Artist Statement

I made this poster in ink drawing and then I colorized it numerically. There is a lifeline in the middle of a sea of barbed wire. In recent times, many immigrants wanted to migrate to Europe, the borders were immediately closed, barbed. The only choice available to those who fled their country was therefore makeshift boats which often end up in the middle of the Mediterranean. Some were fortunate to be saved but many did not arrive alive. — Jeanne Rataj
