Green New Deal Enamel Pin by Devon Bragg

Design By:
Devon Bragg Raised in Columbia, Maryland, Devon spent much of her life with her wonderful parents and dogs trying every sport and activity that is available to any socially awkward child. But nothing clung more than art. A passion that quickly stuck like glue to her and became the compass for her path, though in the beginning she had no idea it would be come such. After hopping around career ideas, Devon finally decided on attending the Maryland Institute College of Art located in Baltimore, Maryland to fulfill her dream of becoming an artist. She later graduated in 2017 with a Bachelors in Fine Arts before, rather crazily, changing her entire discipline, portfolio, and life to pursue her true passion for the animation industry – and now works at Nickelodeon.

Proceeds Support:
Sunrise Movement
Proceeds support Sunrise Movement, a growing army of young people dedicate to making climate change an urgent priority across America, ending the corrupting influence of fossil fuel executives on our politics, and electing leaders who stand up for the health and well-being of all people. While the Green New Deal is still in its infancy, at CAN we’ve taken up the charge of helping the public understand and imagine what could be possible with this exciting new set of policies -- just as the artists of the original New Deal helped to inform and advocate for those innovative programs over 80 years ago. Artist Statement

For the design of the pin, I was really inspired by Alexandria’s ‘by the people, for the people, about the people’ attitude. It takes a team to change something worth changing, and there are a lot of people who work behind the scenes to get a common goal achieved- including this. It begins with outreach and education before it hopefully, ends with a result. After being inspired by the style of the 1940s work posters pasted up along the tall wooden walls along the streets for everyday passersby to see, I wanted to create something similar – because it is about us, and what we do. There’s no them. There’s only we – and we need to work together because we all live on this planet. We are all involved. We are a team – and that’s what I was aiming to show in the pin.
