Artist Statement

The Papah€naumoku€kea Marine National Monument is a UNESCO World Heritage listed U.S. National Monument encompassing 582,578 square miles of ocean waters, including ten islands and atolls of the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. Established by President Bush in 2006, it was significantly expanded in size by President Obama in 2016, making it the largest conservation area on the planet. Ocean pollution is beginning to severely affect the bird life on these islands, so my hope is to bring attention to this beautiful place so that it can be preserved forever. ‰ÛÓ Sheri Emerson
