Artist Statement

If hunters wear this orange to be more visible while hunting, then I wanted to portray a figure wearing the safety orange color. I liked the design aspect of the arms crossed in front of the body, a stop, defensive gesture. I wanted to counter this “X” shape with the cross hairs of a scope on a gun tyo illustrate the idea of wearing orange for gun safety. — Lyla Paakkanen
