Artist Statement

I put the hypnotizing black and white swirl in the back, creating an illusion-like trance to symbolize Alice’s adventure. I illustrated lively flowers that might be found in Wonderland, and placed Alice’s eye in a looking glass. It’s a really upbeat, fun, kooky spin-off of the original cover and I wanted to incorporate how the book makes you feel when looking at it. With this, you can truly judge the book by its cover. — Darby Holt
