Artist Statement

The rainbow symbol can symbolize the LGBTQ cause, but the heart is a symbol of love. I wanted to play with both of these symbols in a design for LGBTQ rights. The love, symbolized in the heart, is not just love for each other, but love for self and all that you are and love that inspires understanding and empathy for others. In this design I wanted to see what would it look like to have pattern on pattern.and what tone and tint would do to the design. — Lyla Paakkanen
