Artist Statement

"The canines we call our "Best friends" get their loyalty, vigilance, bravery, compassion and need for companionship from their wolf ancestors. Even without direct contact with them, wolves still do the rest of the world a great service by the important role they play in keeping the ecosystem in balance as an apex predator. Without them, balance would be lost and so would we. That is what I hope to convey with this piece. It is a pencil sketch that was fully realized as a "digital painting."" - Iain Wade

I am a musician/artist living in Los Angeles, for now. My art always focuses on animals other than humans, since human behavior is always so rehearsed. Other animals are an example of what we should aspire to, at least in my eyes. Purity of action and intent. I spend much of my time away from sketchbooks and easels volunteering with wildlife. It keeps me inspired.

About Join the Pack

Join the Pack, a collection of designs celebrating the wolf by portraying its wildness, mystery and general bad-assness. We hope to combat fear and misunderstanding of wolves by celebrating the species and building a greater appreciation for the iconic creatures. Proceeds support Earthjustice, using the power of law to defend our right to a healthy environment.
