Artist Statement

"The gusty beaches north of Santa Cruz hold a rare allure due to the monolithic beauty of the cliffs and the lack of human encroachment. I wanted to bring attention to the elegance of this unspoiled coastline. In the first step of my process, I drove along Highway 1 and took several pictures of the most amazing rock formations I could find. Then I used the images as inspiration and drafted my poster combining three of the best pictures. I used Photoshop for the first time to make the water and I drew the rest of the landscape in Illustrator." - John Waidhofer

John is a sophomore at Monte Vista Christian School who started using the Adobe Suite earlier this year to illustrate some of the beautiful areas around his hometown. At first he took up graphic design as an elective class at school but now he is making it a hobby.

About See America

See America is reviving the legacy of the New Deal arts projects by building a new collection of posters celebrating our shared natural landmarks and treasured sites. Proceeds support National Parks Conservation Association, the independent, nonpartisan voice working to strengthen and protect our nation’s natural, historical, and cultural heritage.

About our Prints

Each poster is hand-printed and handled, to make sure that only the highest quality is offered and sent out. The matte paper and high quality of inks make for a vibrant image which looks great both framed, and au-naturel. Printed in Los Angeles, CA, on Epson Enhanced Matte Paper, heavyweight stock, high color gamut, using Epson UltraChrome HDR ink-jet technology. Framed posters offer the same, museum-quality printed poster, but wrapped in a protective black frame. The frame is lightweight and includes a shatter-resistant acrylite front protector, so it won't break in the mail. International orders may be subject to customs duties & taxes.
