Artist Statement

I am an artist creating both print-on-demand designs and mixed media art. My designs are intended to support current social issues as well as contribute to productive conversations and actions bringing Love, Peace, Liberty, Equality, and Justice for everyone near and far! My mixed media art investigates the relationship between family and current social issues. I am focused on the concerns I have for my three sons as well as other diverse families with regards to civil rights and equality, racial discrimination, profiling, and deportation. My artwork depicts family life, protest and the impact that current policies have on diverse families. I typically create mixed media paintings, blending a variety of two dimensional materials such as paper, magazine color swatches and acrylic or oil paint. My hope is that my work will help continue the conversations and lead to progressive actions that will address these issues. — JP Designs
