Artist Statement

This poster takes its print from an intense, leafy, mixed media collage I made titled Thicket (2016, 48x60"). In making the original, I was inspired by the darkest, dampest corners of Golden Gate Park in San Francisco which are a dense bramble of green seemingly year-round. I chose this poster's theme, "Growers" as a nod to the cannabis industry in California, which is expected to grow to a $5 billion agriculture category for the state next year. This project has taught me how much I love combining analog collage with digital design, and I expect it will be the first of many such combinations I explore this year. — Holly Savas
