Artist Statement

Mouhamad is a 40 year old dentist and poet who's left Syria and risked his life to find a better life for his family. With the help of three golden eggs, his life was saved three times. Mouhamad, who was attempting to boat to Italy from Turkey, got stranded with 11 other Syrians. Using digital painting techniques, I attempted to capture a peaceful yet tense underwater feeling. — Lina Ngo
