Artist Statement

SF Jazz Organization opened the SF Jazz Center in 2013, helping to support San Francisco's vibrant jazz community. The main performance area has the acoustic quality of a great concert hall and the relaxed intimacy of a jazz club. There is also space for workshops, rehearsals, master classes and private instruction. I love jazz and art, so working on this composition was pure joy for me. I painted this in watercolor while listening to jazz classics. Art lives here at the SF Jazz Center, a really wonderful place for jazz in the Bay Area. — Elizabeth Kennen
