Women hold the key to perpetuating a family line and so each woman is beautiful in her own right. We celebrate their similarities and differences as members of the diversity in the human race. I tried to depict those differences in these representations of ethnic women's faces. It is the women who are the ones who are able to continue the genetic line of a family and people. Most of the time, it is the women who pass on, from one generation to the next, not just the way that people look, but the ethnic culture, the stories and traditions. the food, and our family life experiences. I wanted to keep this composition simple, by not having too many faces, but trying to represent a sample of ethnic diversity and the importance of solidarity. We are all one family! — Lyla Paakkanen
