Artist Statement

I was born and raised in Minnesota, so I knew I wanted to illustrate a monument from my home state. When I was a kid I went to summer camp in northern Minnesota and learned about voyageurs and the fur trade. I found it fascinating, so I was excited to get to create a piece relating to voyageur history years later. ‰ÛÓ Maggie O'Brien
