Artist Statement

I was inspired to contribute to the Creative Action Network (CAN) because of their Patagonia partnership on the "Vote the Environment" campaign in 2014. I've submitted to a couple of CAN campaigns since then, but this one brings me back to where it all began. Bison have been my symbol/spirit-animal since middle school. They are one of life's many teachers; and just like all animals, they are dependent on water-soil-air to survive. They were almost wiped out due to our Manifest Destiny / Westward-Expansion, but now they're the North American mammal. And that's the hope: to consider, respect, and honor the life around us as we live our precious lives. — Orion Pahl
