Artist Statement

The purpose of this design was to create an illustrated homage to America's most unique of cities; New Orleans, Louisiana. More specifically, I wanted to capture the beauty of Jackson Square, a historic park located in the heart of the French Quarter. Truly a must-see for anyone who visits this remarkable city. The poster depicts St. Louis Cathedral, flanked by banana plants and other springtime foliage. Mardi Gras beads drape from the design, creating the suggestion of a fluer de lis, an iconic symbol of Louisiana as well as a common sight in the French Quarter. ‰ÛÓ Cassandra Donner
