Artist Statement

This campaign is important to me personally because a very good friend of mine had to flee from Kuwait after Iraq invaded in 1990. He had to leave as a teenager, without his family, and travel to three different countries (including Iraq itself) in order to find safety. This piece shows parts of his incredible journey, using images from his story and the colors of India, where he finally found refuge. — Michael Czerniawski
