Artist Statement

"For the Dracula book cover, I wanted to get away from the style that is usually used. All of the book covers I have seen for Dracula have had a more dark and brooding feel to them, although I agree that is a central part of the book it can get rather repetitive. So I decided to take a more humorous approach to the cover by depicting a woman with a vampire bat head. I wanted to make it a woman because I feel the female character's in the book hardly get any recognition. I used acrylic paints for the woman and used water color and reduction block prints for the background." - Michelle Holt
