Artist Statement

I wanted to create a simple but powerful depiction of a woman and a child in the act of making their getaway for the Women on the Run. I didn't want to depict the woman as scared, but determined. I wanted the lettering to stand against the image in the foreground and feel enveloping, almost like a hug, to give it a sense of — Alexis Lampley
