Artist Statement

I wanted to show the main character finding her awakening at the bottom of the ocean. The ocean is important because in the book, this is where she has her major moments. I also thought it was important to show her in clothing of the time period since she is waking up from societal expectations of women. I hand drew and inked the linework and then scanned it into Photoshop where I colorized it using watercolor brushes and textures. - Beth Little
