I am an illustrator based in Austin, Texas with a particular love for dry-brush gouache painting. Both my life and work are heavily influenced by the aesthetics of the 1940's, '50s and '60s. I fancy myself a collector of memories as much as a collector of things, and enjoy bringing this sense of nostalgia to my audience.

Texas has a very conservative reputation, but you'd be surprised by the quantity of liberals in the state. With some of the largest, fastest-growing cities in the nation, Texas is quite diverse and continues to change. West Texas, in particular, is in a moment of transition right now. With revived art-scene towns like Marfa, and the beautiful Big Bend National Park, more and more folks from the big cities are moving west to get some breathing room. We can motivate both those folks, and the wonderful ones who were already there, to help create balance in our government again, and do the right thing for the right reason. - Caitlin Alexander
