Artist Statement

I created an original ink drawing on vellum and colored it in Photoshop. I wanted to achieve movement through line-work and typography, as well as use bold colors fitting of the era, and reminiscent of Jazz. I wanted to capture the fast, paced excitement of the 1920\'s, or the \"Jazz Age\" through a portrait of the alluring females, or flappers, that are central in most of Fitzgerald\'s stories throughout the collection in \"Tales of the Jazz Age\". — Shae Synnestvedt
