Artist Statement

This illustration is a second variation of my first drawing of the Run with the Pack picture.. Since each wolf in the first composition was created individually, I thought that I would try to see what another composition would look like if I moved things around. I eliminated a couple of the wolves, added more detail to some of the other wolves and changed the type, that I like better. Friends that I've shown both variations to, like them both. With that positive feedback, I decided to submit the second variation and called, Running with the Pack, portraying a group of social animals, running with joy for the love of being with family and friends! — Lyla Paakkanen
