Artist Statement

Justice is usually depicted holding a balanced scale, symbolizing that both the lowly and the exalted will be treated equally in the pursuit of fair play. There’s more to her. She is blindfolded, not blind; a safeguard against even herself presuming any slight prejudice. Importantly, and oft-overlooked, Justice carries a sword to battle anyone or any interest that would dare undermine her integrity. Justice makes America great. Our system of justice is not perfect for certain, but if we keep a keen eye on fighting for those who most need our resolve, maybe one day it will be. — Brixton Doyle
