Brett Blumenthal is an artist and photographer, who has been passionate about wildlife, the environment, and the beauty of the natural world, for as long as she can remember. While pregnant with her son, Brett was eager to share this passion with him and created art for his nursery that could grow with him beyond his first few years. Seeing the joy her art brought him, and how he lit up when he would see the pieces hung on his walls, Brett was inspired to make her work available to others. Art on a Mission: Brett uses her art as a vehicle to raise awareness about the importance of preserving our beautiful planet. Brett donates 10% of proceeds from sales of her art to wildlife and environmental conservation, and animal welfare.

Artist Statement

I was blessed with the opportunity to do portraits of four Wolves of Saint Francis Wolf Sanctuary. During my visit to the sanctuary, I fell in love with all of the animals, but was especially drawn to Achilles. As an Arctic wolf, his deep orange eyes contrast his beautiful, striking, white coat. He has a loving, warm, and loyal disposition, and was anxious to give "wolf kisses" when he had the chance. The Saint Francis Wolf Sanctuary series was developed to raise awareness about wolf conservation, and raise money for the sanctuary. Arctic wolves are a subspecies of gray wolf, found in the high arctic of Canada and Greenland. — Brett Blumenthal
