Oscar Hidalgo Balarezo I'm a costarricense non-binary creative currently living in NYC with my husband and dog. I love taking care of plants, art, design, and reading the tarot. I received my B.Arch and set out to take on the world one creative project at a time. I have worked as a graphic designer/3D modeler/presentation designer/web designer since. I'm very quiet by nature and use my illustrations as a way to communicate my feelings about the world around me in a way I don't think words could ever do. I'm a member of visual artists collective WeMakeAmerica and volunteer for a number of organizations in NYC like Heritage of Pride, 350BK, etc. All of that aside, I believe the most important thing to know about me from the start is I'll always be available to lend a friendly ear to anyone who needs it.

Artist Statement

Don't let the grind become the most important thing in your life. During Pride month it is easy to see our schedule fill up and get swallowed by all the festivities and the uptick of creative work. It is important to remember why we celebrate Pride and to honor those brave souls who rioted for equal rights, by helping the members of our community who may not have reasons to celebrate yet. For me, Pride begins in my community and it is all about human connections. Make yourself available to members of our community who are in need; listen to them, give them your time and be there for them. — Oscar Hidalgo Balarezo
