Artist Statement

These images represent the universal language of uncertainty, hope, and anxiety any child or adult would have of being uprooted by war, poverty, or the promise of a better life in a new country.  Leaving everything you knew behind opens the door for the promise of tomorrow.  We all have something to contribute to society-we all need to ensure refugees flourish in whichever country the live in. My family were refugees of World War I and these images show refugees from that era. — Mark Forton
