Design By: Hunter Armstrong
I am a design student at Cincinnati State Technical College, studying under the design expertise of Joel Knueven. Having discovered the necessity of creativity to my well-being & happiness in my late 20's, the concept of maximum effectiveness using minimal elements is an area in which I find energy for, driven by my highly process-oriented mind. Also, the love of blending black & white imagery with colored elements is another area I find to be intriguing. A natural affinity towards the written word, the realm of typography presents itself as an area of focus as well. Design is a microcosm of the realization of the need to be intentional in life, and this cover was deemed one of my first major design successes due to its level of intentionality. Thank you, the reader and viewer for the time given to experience my work.

Artist Statement

Inspired by minimalist design philosophy, this cover conveys the savage energy that Dracula innately possesses through the use of fully saturated colors, highlighted by the piercing of innocence of the white circle by the red fang, which also doubles as the stake so crucial to Draculas destruction. The moon reveals itself out of the night sky as the Victorian border hints at the time period in which Dracula roamed the earth. The color choices represent the nature of his existence: passion, darkness & secrecy, further supported by the typeface of his iconic name, and the resemblance of a drop of blood that so defines him. — Hunter Armstrong
