Mindy is wheelchair bound and has limited mobility due to suffering a stroke at age 13. Mindy was born in Brooklyn, NY and now resides in Plantation, Florida, in an Ann Storck Center group home with her peers. Mindy began her work as an artist at the Center in 1997 with simple designs and illustrations, but has now progressed to intricate compositions.  Her Chef series is her most popular and well-recognized collection, featuring her elaborate and unique perspective, despite her monocular vision and use of only one arm.  Mindy paints with her heart, frequently suggesting ideas inspired by her experiences or things she has heard of. Exploring a variety of media and mediums provides Mindy with an exceptional avenue to reach out to the community and benefit those around her. When she paints, Mindy often talks about how her art may help others cope with their own situations, and how important it is to overcome your obstacles without becoming discouraged.

The power to create, communicate and be heard is an ability that many of us take for granted and too many others are disregarded as unable. That’s why we’ve partnered with the Ann Storck Center, to promote ability and inclusion for the disabled community by focusing on ability: creative ability.
