Artist Statement

Most visitors to Kenai Fjords National Park take a cruise to the tidewater glaciers that departs from the marina in Seward, Alaska. One of the first species of wildlife seen in Resurrection Bay is often the sea otter, like the one photographed for this watercolor painting. The only section of the park accessible by road is Exit Glacier, where in August 2016 Scott and his wife made the grueling hike that climbs 4 miles to an overlook of Harding Icefield-a place of perpetual winter that feeds the calving tidewater glaciers below. - Bruce and Scott Sink
