Artist Statement

While looking up reference imagery, I discovered that most pre-existing covers for The Legend of Sleepy Hollow depict the headless horseman in a dramatic chase. In order to create something a little different, I wanted to focus on the abundance of spooky imagery in the story. I liked the description of the gnarly tree a lot, so I decided to feature that in my cover design. — Mary Shriner
