Artist Statement

I am a huge cactus enthusiast and collector. The saguaro cactus is my absolute favorite type of cactus, so I had to create an illustration for The Saguaro National Park. What I created is a picture of a Gila Woodpecker sitting on top of a saguaro cactus. Gila woodpeckers create nests in saguaro cacti to protect themselves from predators and to keep warm. My illustration is hand drawn with ink, and color was added digitally. ‰ÛÓ lilly Rundell
