Artist Statement

Milagros are traditionally small metal folk charms used in offerings & devotion and can be carried for protection and luck. They are found in Mexico, other Latin American countries, the U.S. and even across Europe. The hand is a motif that carries many meanings; charity, friendship, love, truth & humanity. Some of the milagros in this painting also include the Sacred Heart which represents Jesus’ compassion for humanity. Regardless of religious beliefs, the meanings of these milagros symbolize qualities we can call upon today. Let’s come together and let's rally together until we (and all the families who have been separated) are todos juntos (all together). - Andrea Floren
