Artist Statement

The world population will soon reach seven billion and an estimated nine billion in 2050. Without proper management of resource use and long-term maintenance of responsibility, our planet Earth won’t be able to sustain the condition for human well-being. This poster visualizes the pressure of the growing population on Earth. Standing against a green background, this plant-like object consists of a globe and dining utensils, which represents the ecosystem of our planet. The curved fork indicates the force caused by overpopulation on Earth. This poster was exhibited at Danish Poster Museum in 2012. [http://www.jingzhoustudio.net] — Jing Zhou
