I have studied Visual Communication in high school and later graduated in Fine Arts Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, Milano, Italy. After graduation I moved to London, UK, were I took illustration and clay sculputure classes, while working at different jobs to support myself. After 3 years I moved to New York, NY, where I enjoyed painting and meeting great people and artists at The Art Students League of New York and worked as textile designer and etchings printer. I moved back to Italy in 2004 where I worked as a teacher and moved back to the US in March 2016. I am currently working as freelance illustrator and on my own digital art while trying to start a new life.

"I remember, as a child, my disappointment at the negative portrayal of wolves in fairy tales. Now, I am astonished at how they continue to be hunted to extinction in many different parts of the world. I am so happy to have a chance in helping reverting stereotypes on these amazing animals . My artwork was inspired by the successful reintroduction of the wolf in Yellowstone National Park. This amazing event, known as Trophic Cascade, turned into a real life modern fairy tale, as wolves helped restoring balance in the park, generating a positive impact on wildlife, vegetation, and the river itself. I have added my 10 year old to the image to signify hope for the future generations, as they will be the most affected by environmental issues." - Sara Mauri
