Artist Statement

This poster is designed to promote tree planting in urban areas. Planting trees not only creates a beautiful place to live, but helps keep the air and water clean. By mobilizing an army of volunteers, we can encourage and strengthen communities to start making a positive change in their neighborhoods. The shovel represents hard work, and dedication to service. The tree that grows from the shovel symbolizes the hope and vision for a greener, more beautiful city. — Paula Chang
