Artist Statement

Tongass National Forest covers 17-million acres, which is the majority of the mainland and islands of southeast Alaska. On the west coast of Baranof Island, Mount Verstovia looms like a pyramid above the seaport town of Sitka, Alaska. This watercolor painting is based on a photo that Scott took from near the summit in May 2005 where the lupine flowers were getting an early start on the short summer growing season. ‰ÛÓ Bruce and Scott Sink
