Artist Statement

The Sonoran Desert is a huge area in southern Arizona that encompasses the metropolitan Phoenix area, and stretches west to California and south well into Mexico. Part of this area is now designated as a national park, the southernmost 10,000 acres in Arizona along the Mexican border. This vast desert is full of surprises, such as ocean fossils and a wide variety of life that manages to carry on where water is extremely scarce and temperatures are extreme from spring through fall. It is also wildly beautiful, and a memorable place to visit. Bring plenty of water. ‰ÛÓ Sheri Emerson
