Artist Statement

"This piece is dedicated to the thousands of Central American children that are being targeted from all sides. They can't stay home because of the violence and not wanted where they are going. Children are being treated as disposable items. Mixed media, using fabric, string, markers, wire, color pencils, embossed velum, and acrylic paint. Fabrics are hand dyed using bleeding tissue paper, hand stitched applique, and Turkey work stitches are also used for texture." - carocrafts@hotmail.com Ofori

My name is Nancy Ofori and I'm a mixed media artist. I currently live in Houston, TX. I'm a child at heart and my art often mirrors the child in me. I love working with my hands and learning new methods to create what is in my head and heart. Very few things excite me more than fibers; papers and fabrics will always make their way into most of my pieces. My subconscious will not allow me to alienate them even when I've tried. I was born in Mexico City and grew up in Los Angeles, both cities and cultures impact my natural tendencies in the type of art I will create.
