Artist Statement

I used traditional and digital methods to create a book cover for Jane Austen's Emma. I've always been an Austen fan, and I've never seen very fun covers for her books, which is ultimately why I chose Emma. I used floral elements to convey Emma's youth and stubbornly optimistic opinion regarding her matchmaking abilities. She sees the beauty of what she's capable of much more than those around her. - Michelle Hubner
