I am an illustrator based in Austin, Texas with a particular love for dry-brush gouache painting. Both my life and work are heavily influenced by the aesthetics of the 1940's, '50s and '60s. I fancy myself a collector of memories as much as a collector of things, and enjoy bringing this sense of nostalgia to my audience.

Artist Statement

It's so easy right now to hate things-- anything... and everything. But I often have to remind myself of the beautiful, loving souls in my life, and how these speckles of light in the dark sky are really what makes life worth living. I've found that just when I think there are only monsters in this world, I'll be the recipient of a random act of kindness, or touched by the generous spirit of a friend. Yes, we all have enemies, but we can't forget to appreciate our allies-- and what wonderful parts of life they share with us. — Caitlin Alexander
