Artist Statement

\"Why do you want to climb Mount Everest?\" \"Because it\'s there.\" -George Mallory When I took this photograph after the arduous hike up the Falling Waters trail in Franconia Notch two years ago, it never occurred to me how well it captured the essence of breathing in that mountain air while looking out at the rolling hills beyond. I have always had a love of nature, but became a true hiking aficionado several years ago. Once you get bitten by the hiking bug, there\'s no turning back. For this project, I paired my two passions, graphic design and nature, into one composition. The typography helps to establish the vastness of the sky, giving the viewer a feeling of longing to scale the mountains that lie ahead. So, happy hiking to all! ‰ÛÓ Laura Collins
