Anike was born and raised in Pretoria, South Africa. In school Anike used to enjoy art however never took art as a subject. While exploring which career to pursue she came across Interior Architecture which gave her the opportunity to pursue a more creative career. During her studies, she rediscovered her love for drawing, sketching and painting. She completed her studies in 2011 and trailed a career in Interior Architecture. Drawing, painting and sketching has become her past time while sitting alongside a river, dam, the ocean or anywhere in nature which is where she feels the most inspired.

Artist Statement

"A Teacher takes a hand, opens a mind and touches a heart." Unknown Teachers give so much of themselves in order to ensure that a child becomes the best version of themselves. This kind of purpose should always be appreciated and valued. I wanted to show everything that makes up all the wonderful teachers in this world and thus decided to break it down into an anatomical sketch. — Anike Nurnberger
