Artist Statement

I made this watercolor painting in response to the SCOTUS ruling on the “Muslim Ban” and in reaction to cruel and inhumane immigration policies at our borders tearing families apart. Immigration and refugee rights are close to my heart; I've taught students from all over the world and my husband is an immigrant. Artists are also political activists, and art is always an effective way to resist! — Chelsea Vaught
