Out of the list of books provided, The Jungle Book stood out to me. There are characters created with vibrant personalities, the setting is based off of the beautiful jungles of India, and people from all over the world can have a connection to this story from when they are young. I wanted to portray a moment in this book I love, and more importantly create a cover I have not seen yet for this story. Mowgli finding the "red flower" is a defining moment for him as a character, he is isolated from others in the forest, and getting the fire sets him apart as a man. I created this piece digitally because I wanted to achieve the isolated feeling as well as get the glowing affect of the red flower. — Lauren Bailey
