Abigail Vance is a student at Eastern Washington University who will obtain her BFA in Visual Communication Design with a User Experience Certificate in the spring of 2019. She has worked as a page designer, an Art Director and currently as a Graphic Assistant and enjoys doing packaging or promotional pieces. She excels in a collaborative team environment and is eager to amplify her leadership and design skills. Her goal is to connect with clients on a personal level while designing products with hidden meaning and personality. While not working or at school, Abigail enjoys reading, dabbling in photography, and traveling.

Artist Statement

I decided to design this book cover because it wasn't one that had been designed for often and it was one of the books on the list that I had read.I also I enjoy F. Scott Fitzgerald's work and this book of his, in particular, is loosely based on his life with his wife Zelda. It's a morality tale, a meditation on love, money, and decadence, and a social documentary which I enjoyed. I took the photo and staged everything in it myself. The jewelry and diamonds represent the glitz and glam of the character's life's as New York socialites during the jazz age before and after the Great War. The mirror represents the characters' disproportionate appreciation of and focus on their past, which tends to consume them in the present. — Abigail Vance
