Pinnacles National Park in California's Central Valley was created in 2013 from Pinnacles National Monument, which was established 1908. It is famous for its abundance of endangered California condors, but we chose a smaller bird for our watercolor painting -- the acorn woodpecker that often stores dozens of large acorns from live oak trees inside holes it pecks in trees and poles, referred to as graneries or "acorn trees." - Bruce and Scott Sink
