Artist Statement

I chose the International Space Station (ISS) because it is a noble example of good will and cooperation among nations. It allows U.S.A., Russia, Canada, Japan, and the participating countries of the European Space Agency to work together to discover new things about our universe. At its launch in 1998, NASA called the International Space Station one of the most ambitious international collaborations ever attempted. It is the largest space station ever constructed and continues to be assembled in orbit. It has been visited by astronauts from 18 countries—and counting. — Luis Prado
