Artist Statement

Although Hip Hop culture has spread to every corner of the globe, its birth took place right here in America during the 1970s. A combination of music, dance, art and poetry, its roots and inspirations can be traced back many decades earlier. With arts and culture now under threat like never before, it is important to protect the freedom of expression and creativity that gave rise to this, and many other art forms, both in the past, the present, and in the future. — Darrell Stevens
