Since the space race began, generations of Americans have been captivated by the idea of outer space. Science fiction fantasies have filled the pop-culture long before space travel was feasible. During the Space Race of the 1960's artists were hard at work inspiring the nation to reach for the stars. We're in the midst of similarly exciting moment today, with government organizations like NASA and private space companies like SpaceX accelerating the pace on innovation more than ever before. Our collective imaginations are again gripped by new images of exploration and breakthrough.
That's why we're inviting artists and designers to bring their talents to this historic moment, in creating a new collection of mission patch designs for as many past, present and future missions as we can. The new collection of art will work to excite the country around humanity's expanding reach beyond Earth.
